Nat Geo Adventure

National Geographic Channels International Launches Nat Geo Adventure

Dubai, April 17, 2007
National Geographic Channels International (NGCI) today announced the launch of Nat Geo Adventure - a bold new channel that unleashes the spirited adventurer in all of us.

Beginning 1 May 2007, Nat Geo Adventure will be available in more than 40 countries around the world including Italy, Singapore, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Thailand, the Philippines, Australia, Israel, Africa and the Middle East. The Channel will also appear in block format in Spain, Portugal and Latin America.

Nat Geo Adventure programmes are high energy and experiential, infusing a fresh feel into adventure and exploration - signature themes of National Geographic. Nat Geo Adventure engages young backpackers and travellers craving edgy content that mirrors their own curious and fearless nature.

"Nat Geo Adventure captures the attention of a younger audience eager to stretch the boundaries of their knowledge about the world and their own limitations", said David Haslingden, CEO of National Geographic Channels International. "The Channel offers another platform for NGCI to provide high quality programming that captures the spirit of adventure and exploration that is at the core of the National Geographic brand".

Whether viewers want to feel the rush of surfing a 20-foot wave or find inspiration from an unpredictable road trip, Nat Geo Adventure delivers compelling stories with impact. More than just a travel channel, Nat Geo Adventure chronicles people whose life-changing travel experiences have transformed how they see the world and themselves.

Nat Geo Adventure is full of local flavour, balancing localized content with overarching story lines. The Channel's first original commission to premiere is the ten-part series Chasing Che, which chronicles the journey of two young Latin Americans as they retrace the route that Ernesto "Che" Guevara took through South America in his acclaimed book The Motorcycle Diaries.

Nat Geo Adventure joins a growing number of channels under the NGCI umbrella. In addition to its core channel, NGCI has recently launched Nat Geo Wild and is continuing to increase its presence in high definition with National Geographic Channel HD.

Nat Geo Adventure is a part of the STAR bouquet in the Middle East and is exclusively available on the ADD platform which also includes other channels like: Star Movies, Star Plus, Star One, Star World, Star Gold, Channel [V] International, Channel [V] India, Star News, Sky News, Fox News, Fox Sports, National Geographic Channel, Jetix and Granada UKTV.
